Nicholas Simmons was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA. He began painting in Sarasota, Florida (East coast) and studied with many well-known watercolorists, most notably Valfred Thelin and Barbara Nechis. He quickly developed a bold original style, and enjoyed much early success. Also an accomplished guitarist, he made music his first career, only painting occasional commissions. A few short years later, he has earned a reputation as one of the most exciting contemporary watermedia artists on the scene. In 2007, he won top prize at the National Watercolor Society 87th Annual Exhibtion. He lives in the Washington D.C. area with his wife Olga Ivanovna and daughter Larissa.

Some actual paintings of the artist.

Nicholas Simmons will expose his famous watercolors in Seneffe, Belgium together with 5 other professionals Xavier Swolfs (Bel), Marc Folly (Fr), Stéphane Heurion (Bel), Janine Gallizia (AUS) and Joseph Zbukvic (Aus).

the concept is similar to my body imaging painting...I enjoy the vibrancy of the colors and the open-minded method of "letting the paint flow".....allowing the image to happen....my website is THE SOUND OF COLOR....thank you.....
