Sir William Russell Flint

Regarded by many as the world's finest water colour artist, Sir William Russell Flint was born on April 4th, 1880 in Edinburgh, Scotland.

He received full recognition as a painter and illustrator with his election to the Royal Institute of Painters in Water-Colours (1912) and as an associate of the Royal Society of Painters in Water-Colours (1914; RWS 1917).
In this period he gained a reputation for his painting of Spanish Gypsy girls and gained much recognition and support during the 1920's and 1930's. In 1947 he was awarded honours as a Royal Academian and elected President of the Royal Watercolour Society being augmented by a knighthood.

Sir William Russell Flint continued painting until his death on December 30th 1969 at the age of 89. Galleries and museums throughout the world are displaying his works.
